PUPPY KINDERGARTEN & K9 MANNERS LEVEL ONE – Wednesday, October 5th, 2016

Bentley, Cruz, Eli, Molly and Sophie all graduated from our Puppy Kindergarten and K9 Manners Level One classes last week! Aren’t they amazing? Can’t wait to see what these furry faces and their humans conquer next!

Strut with your Mutt Casting Call!

Strut with Your Mutt at Purina PawsWay on Thursday, November 24th

Join us for a pet-friendly evening of fun and fashion as the Strut With Your Mutt doggie fashion show returns to Purina PawsWay for year two! In collaboration with the students in the Humber Fashion Arts program, this year’s show will feature dogs of all shapes and sizes modelling curated canine designs and celebrating the unique bond they share with their owners.

We are currently scouting for models for the fashion show now, so for those interested in participating, PawsWay will be hosting a casting call* on Saturday, October 15th from noon to 2p.m.

Principles of Pet Care

Join us Thursdays in October for our Principles of Pet Care lecture series featuring two 45-minute talks followed by 15-minute Q&A each evening.

If you’ve ever wondered about what it takes to become a veterinarian, or how to help your pet lose weight, you won’t want to miss this exciting lecture series. Our experts will cover topics ranging from safe and effective strategies for pet weight loss, trends in pet nutrition, and pet rehabilitation to the process of getting into vet school and how to become a successful veterinarian.

Thursday, October 20, from 7pm-9pm

Dr Debbie Sigesmund is one of three Canadian veterinary communication managers at Nestle Purina. Dr. Sigesmund has spent 10 years in small animal clinical practice, and is passionate about staying up-to-date with pet nutrition research and sharing her knowledge of pet nutrition with clinics. She will be speaking about what is involved with taking your pet to the vet, from what to bring, to what the vet is doing during an examination and what questions to ask to get the most out of your visit.

Dr. Scott Bainbridge graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1999 and is now the co-owner of the Dundas West Animal Hospital. The recipient of both the Merck Veterinary Award and the American Animal Hospital Senior Student Award, Dr. Bainbridge has dedicated his career to animal welfare and educating the public about how to care for their pets. Dr. Bainbridge has appeared on several television shows including The Steven and Chris Show, Doctor in the House, and on CP24’s Animal House Calls. Dr. Bainbridge will be speaking about how to become a vet and alternative careers in the animal health profession


Thursday, October 27, from 7pm-9pm

Ian Ashworth has over 33 years’ experience working with and training service dogs. In his current position as Director of Program Development at Dog Guides Canada, Ashworth oversees the puppy and breeding program, the kennel and welfare of dogs and the autism assistance dog program. Ashworth will be speaking about the service animal industry and how to become a service animal trainer.

Stacy Lynn Fernandes is currently the Nutritional Communications Manager for Nestlé Purina. Stacy Lynn has a Masters of Animal Nutrition from the University of Guelph, where she has guest lectured on pet nutrition, and is a member of the American Academy of Veterinary Nutritionists (AAVN). Stacy Lynn’s passion and area of research is weight management for pets, helping them to live happy, healthier lives.  She will be speaking about current trends and innovations in pet nutrition.

Cat Agility


Cat agility is back! Starting in October, bring your cat into PawsWay to check out our obstacle course on Thursday evenings. A PawsWay associate will assist you in making your cat feel comfortable moving through this new space.

This program will be offered every Thursday evening from 5:30-7:30 for FREE!
