That's why we have our Nestlé Purina PetCare Consumer Privacy Statement, and why we're always working to ensure that it is up to date and comprehensive. Privacy law is a new and evolving area, and therefore this Consumer Privacy Statement is subject to review to ensure that we are meeting your expectations for the protection of your personal information. What is personal information?

"Personal information" includes information about you and which identifies you. This may include, but is not limited to, your name, address, home telephone number, age and consumer preference information.

How does Nestlé Purina PetCare Canada obtain your consent?

We make a reasonable effort to ensure that you understand the purposes for which your personal information will be collected, held, used or disclosed by Purina Canada. In general, we obtain express consent to the collection of your personal information at the time we collect the information. In certain limited circumstances we may rely on your implied consent. You may withdraw your consent, subject to contractual restrictions, by providing our Privacy Officer with reasonable notice, in writing, at the address above.

How does Nestlé Purina PetCare Canada collect your personal information?

We collect your personal information through our Pet Priority club, Breeder Referral Service, ProClub, surveys and questionnaires, contests, in-store promotions, our consumer call centre, our website and any correspondence you may have with us. We may also collect personal information about you when it is publicly available, and from other organizations, where those organizations have your consent to provide the information to us.

How does Nestlé Purina PetCare Canada use your personal information?

We may use only the personal information necessary for the purposes to which you have consented, which may include providing you with customer services, administering your membership in a club or providing you assistance through one of our services (i.e., Breeder Referral), developing new products, and marketing and internal business purposes including administering and improving our websites.

Who has access to your personal information?

Your personal information is accessible, only for the purposes to which you have consented, by Nestlé Purina PetCare and third parties acting for us, and, with your consent, to organizations we partner with and third parties acting for them, including the respective employees who need to know the information for the purposes to which you have consented. A current list of the organizations we partner with is available from our Privacy Officer upon request. In the event that Nestlé Purina PetCare Canada were to sell or dispose of all or a part of our business, the transaction could involve the transfer of your personal information used in connection with the transferred business. We may also disclose your personal information if we are required to do so by law.

Does Nestlé Purina PetCare Canada make sure that your personal information is accurate?


We use reasonable efforts to keep your personal information as accurate, complete and current as necessary for the purposes to which you have consented. Where we collect the information directly from you, we rely on you to update us to ensure its accuracy.

Can you access, correct or update your personal information?

You may access, correct or update your personal information by contacting our Privacy Officer at the address above. When a request is made to us in writing we will respond in a timely fashion. We will tell you what personal information we have about you, how we use it and to whom it has been disclosed, at minimal cost. In the rare circumstance that Nestlé Purina PetCare Canada may not be able to give you complete access, we will explain why and explain any recourse you may have. Where information is corrected or updated, Nestlé Purina PetCare Canada will, if necessary, disclose such information to organizations that were provided the prior information.

What type of security does Nestlé Purina PetCare Canada use?

At Nestlé Purina PetCare Canada we maintain the security of personal information through the use of safeguards that are appropriate to the form and sensitivity of the information. These safeguards may include physical locks, technological safeguards such as passwords or encryption, and procedural safeguards that ensure that we limit access to personal information on a need to know basis.

What about Purina Canada's websites?

We collect your personal information on our Purina websites only when it is voluntarily provided.

Cookies

On our websites we may use tracking technology ('cookies'). Cookies are small text files stored on your computer we use to help us to keep track of your browser as you navigate a Purina website. Cookies help us tailor our websites to your personal needs. A cookie is not a computer program, and it cannot harm the data on your PC. We use "session" cookies which are immediately deleted when you leave our site. 


We also use cookies to track your path through the site, to gather information such as browser type, operating system, metrics, geographical location, and site usage patterns. No personally identifiable data is being collected by the cookie. If you wish, you may block or delete cookies. Blocking cookies will have no effect on your use of this site except for your use of the Pet Priority, which requires us to use cookies in order to facilitate your registration. Children

Purina has no intention of collecting any personal information from individuals under 18 years of age without the express consent of their parents. Where appropriate, Purina will specifically instruct children not to submit such information on our websites. If a child has provided us with information, a parent or guardian of that child should contact us if they would like this information deleted from our records. We will use reasonable efforts to delete the child's information from our existing files.
